The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Our message is based on the Bible. Our ministry is motivated by the love of God. Our mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in his name without discrimination (our international mission).
About the Salvation Army
The movement, founded in 1865 by William Booth, has spread from London, England, to many parts of the world. Today, The Salvation Army is active in 128 countries and is currently led by General André Cox, who was elected as the 20th General in 2013.
The Salvation Army corps Basel 1 (Switzerland) has been part of the community in Basel for around 130 years. In addition to the church services and the appearance at the Christmas kettle campaign, it is known in Basel especially for her thrift shop / second hand store and the weekly community lunch, followed by homework assistance and afternoon program for children.
